Common Juvederm Volume Questions from Patients

In blog by Webmaster

Nobody likes wrinkles and lines, and very few people enjoy having surgery. The great thing is, there are several non-surgical options that can help you have younger-looking skin without surgery. JUVÉDERM® is one of those options, and it will allow your skin to have Juvederm volume, which means it will be plumped out and looking amazing. Here are some questions that you might have for your dermatologist if you are considering the treatment.

dermatologistWhat is Juvederm Volume?

Juvederm volume is the extra volume to your skin you can get through the treatment. JUVÉDERM® is what is known as a dermal filler. It will add extra plumpness to the skin. This works especially well around the cheeks, chin, and other areas of your face. As you age, your skin can sometimes start to look sunken in and thinner. Juvederm will help fill out your skin and make it look more vibrant and younger.

Should I Get JUVÉDERM® Treatment?

It is always best to ask your dermatologist to see if you are a good candidate for any skin care treatment. In general, however, anyone who is in good mental and physical health who also has lines and wrinkles is a good candidate. If you have certain skin conditions or allergies, then the treatment may not be appropriate for you. Also, pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding should avoid it.

What Happens During the Treatment?

During a treatment, the dermatologist will apply a numbing agent to the skin being treated. They will then use a needle to inject the JUVÉDERM® treatment directly under the skin. You may feel some mild pain or discomfort. For a few days after the injection, your skin may have some redness and tenderness.

Juvederm volumeWhen Will I See Some Results?

You should start to see the results of the treatment almost immediately, at least after any swelling subsides. When a week has passed and your skin has fully healed, that is when you will experience the total effects of the treatment. These results should last you for around a year, at which point you can visit your dermatologist for another treatment if you wish. You may start to see the JUVÉDERM® deflating at around nine months.

What Other Treatments Should I Avoid When Using JUVÉDERM®?

For a full list of things to avoid, make sure to talk to your dermatologist. In general, there are some things you should stay away from after the treatment. This can include discontinuing omegas, as they can worsen swelling and bruising. You can have micro-needling treatments after JUVÉDERM®, but it is best to wait for at least two weeks after the treatment. Micro-needling can work well in conjunction with dermal fillers if administered properly.

At What Age Can I Get JUVÉDERM®?

As with any medical procedure, age will be a factor in whether or not you get the treatment. Talk to your dermatologist about your concerns, and they will advise you of the appropriate age. In some cases, it may be over 21. If you are under 18, you will definitely require permission from a parent or guardian.

Can I Still Workout After JUVÉDERM®?

You can definitely exercise after Juvederm treatments, but not immediately after. A good guideline is to wait around 24 hours. Exercise can cause additional swelling and bruising at the site, and you want it to heal quickly.
